+1000 Hectares Protected!

In 2019, 3 district lots, 800 hectares (2,000 acres) total, along the southern shore of the Inlet were acquired for C$3M and preserved for all to enjoy, protecting this land from development, logging and other activity. These lots are identified in green-gray highlighted area. This purchase was a coordinated effort with the help of our friends at the B.C. Parks Foundation. They were able to host one of the greatest crowd funding efforts in land preservation history. We all owe a debt of gratitude for the phenomenal feat by all involved to raise funds that resulted in acquiring and preserving the land. You can read more about this effort in a NY Times article, How Canadians Raised Millions to Save 2,000 Pristine Acres.

In July 2020, the district lot in which the iconic “One Eye” peak resides was acquired, preserved, and added to the Princess Louisa Marine Park. The 800 acre preservation effort, at a cost of C$800k, was again made possible with the help of the B.C. Parks Foundation, the Goff Family, and Princess Louisa International Society members and donors like you. Additionally, in 2020 the Princess Louisa International Society and BC Parks Foundation were able to secure Conservation Covenants on 250 acres of property currently owned by the Goff family and the Malibu Club. These covenants ensure there will be no further development, logging, mining or other encroachment on these properties.

These recent acquisitions within the inlet demonstrate the strength of leveraging the numerous member donations to acquire real property and protecting the beauty and tranquility of the inlet for future generations to enjoy. Thank you all for your support!
